If we want our system to reproduce what our hearing perceives as 'flat' at any SPL then do we not require loudness EQ that adjusts to the SPL? Looked at another way, if one doesn't utilize accurate loudness EQ and listens at SPLs where we need this EQ to hear the music as recorded then are we not doing it all wrong? Blasphemy in some circles, right? The EQ compensates for our hearing, thus presenting the artist and engineer vision in the recording no matter the playback volume.
